Another Earth Day excerpt...

I have been battling stomach bugs and headaches and sleepless nights. Feeling better now. Back on the writing track.  Earth Day entry is nearly finished.  Here is another small sampling. Enjoy!

“It might feel like you are dying, too. It might feel like a piece of you has died with her. But, you will be OK eventually. It will hurt. I've lost people too. I was too young to remember my father dying, but I remember very clearly when my grandmother died. You will get through it. You are not alone. She will always be part of you. I will help you if you let me.” This unexpected compassion he was showing overwhelmed Mistie more than anything.

“It is not that I might feel like I am dying: I will die." She corrected. "We are connected. What happens to her - happens to me. Unless...” She let the sentence trail off. William wanted to understand, but she just sometimes made no sense at all.

“Unless what?” He cupped her chin and lifted her face to his. “You can tell me.”

“Unless, I give up who I am.” She captivated him with her misty eyes.
~~~
How many times must I repeat similar words to those hurting and wrapped in the cloak of grief? If I were to get a tattoo; I think it should be a word, or a succession of words "You are not alone." And maybe, someone will believe and take comfort in it.
It matters not the story written, Spirit always finds a way to weave within my words.  Sometimes I rebel against it.  But what use is there in that?  At least inspiration has returned.  At least the release I seek through words - is mine.  Balance. Light. Release. Peace.
Earth Day update and sampling...
 Welcome NEWCOMERS and Thanks for Joining. I'm delighted to have you! Please don't be shy about commenting. I'd love to hear your thoughts, ideas, ponderings, and feedback.  :)
Earth Day story is up to 7500 words. The story isn't going in the direction I had originally planned it to go, but happy with it thus far. I might just get this story finished and sent for editing in time for contest opening day. I've only touched on the steamy parts.  I have to get my sexy in gear! And once more, Spirit weaves itself into the story a bit.
Enjoy this small sampling! :)
William watched. The girl's eyes were closed; she was stringing strange words together; her expression stoic and shuttered. Who was she? Had he fallen and bumped his head, even now suffering a concussion? Was he in a fevered hallucination? All he knew was the touch of her hand on his chest burned through the fabric of his shirt and lit something inside of him. An ache filled him., an unexplainable longing for something which he knew in his heart was unattainable. The pain had stopped and he was able to focus more fully on her. He lifted his hand to her face. A few wisps of her hair lay against her sweaty brow. He tucked them behind her ear half expecting to be caught and held by them again. Need whispered across his consciousness.
Mistie felt when the object left his body and all traces of disease with it. She also felt overwhelmed by his thoughts and emotions. She was hot and itchy and uncomfortable and needful. She knew these feelings were inside of him and didn't understand it. She heaved a deep sigh, moaned, and collapsed. It had been too much for her. She was used to healing trees and plants and animals. Once she had helped a small boy who had fallen and scraped his knee on a rock, not a grown human man. She closed her eyes and gave in to the weakness.
William looked down at the girl in his arms. Her eyes were closed, her cheeks pale, her breathing slow. Now what? He wondered. He held her and cursed his body when her soft feminine curves pressed against his hardening cock. At least she couldn't feel what she doing to him. That would have been embarrassing.
Hey, Mistie.” He said softly, doing what he'd been aching to do since first spotting her. He slowly ran his fingers through her hair, lowering his head to her ear. It was oddly pointed. He touched the tip with his finger, curious. “Mistie, wake up hon.” She stirred and shifted in his arms, the warmth of her awakening sensations in his body. He had to get her off of his lap, now, before he did something stupid. “Propriety be damned.” He said out loud as he brushed his lips across hers. Her lips softened and moved beneath his and still her eyes remained closed, her breathing even. He hoped she was just sleeping. Just a kiss. He told himself. He coaxed her dry lips apart with his tongue. She responded by opening them further.
Harlequin Romance, here I come! (hopefully)
*bites lower lip nervously* Whew...that's a relief. I did it! I sent my blurb pitch to Harlequin. Now, I have to wait a month to hear if they like my story.  It's out of my hands. I'm positively manifesting that ~Enlightened By Darkness~ is what Nocturne Cravings needs! Thanks for the critiques, feedback, and editing help...as well as easing my mind! :)
Research :)
So, I went to the bookstore today to do some research for pitches.  It was fun, but a bit bewildering at the same time!  I think that a combination of my very first draft and my latest revision will be the best one to submit.  I'm waiting to hear back if I am pigeon-holing myself in with the story having a holiday theme.   Originally it was set during Autumn.  But, it whispered to me that it wanted to go Halloween/Samhain.  It's easy enough to change if that limits the story.
I'm going to remove ~Enlightened By Darkness~ now. THANK YOU all for your interest, reading, feedback, and comments.  It's being removed from Literotica now as well.  We shall see what the future holds for it. :)
~*Enlightened By Darkness*~ Editorial Pitch revised
Thanks for the feedback and help! Here's the latest revision:
~~~
Paralyzed from the waist down, school teacher Gwyn uses a wheelchair to aid in her mobility. Lost in the darkness of a defeatist attitude, Gwyn believes her limitations hold her back from enjoying a full life. But one night, she is accosted by a dark and mysterious stranger. Intent on keeping her safe from harm, he spirits her away (chair and all) and promises her Sanctuary.

Ciernan, a vampyre who loathes humans and their weaknesses is bound to an accursed brother. The brothers' fates are inexplicably woven together by the same tragedy: a tragedy that is about to come full circle as Gwyn enters both of their lives; forcing Ciernan to face the demons of his past and reevaluate his existence. But the vampyress who created him has been lurking in the shadows, waiting for someone to fall victim to his charms. Will Gwyn be able to trust Ciernan enough to give herself over to him completely? Does Ciernan's frozen heart even have the capability to love? Together, they must fight the dark forces (within and without) which seek to tear them apart.

~*Enlightened By Darkness*~ Editorial Pitch to Publisher

I'm working on a two-paragraph blurb that will be an editorial pitch for a publishing company.  I have been reading and following the guidelines suggested on their forums. I'm wondering if I need to tighten up my paragraphs a bit more.  I've already revised the blurb several times.  Of a blurb they say, "The easiest way to define it, is to look at the back cover of a book." I'm placing it here because I've already posted the story.

I'D APPRECIATE ANY FEEDBACK AND/OR COMMENTS YOU HAVE TO OFFER.

Gwyn, an elementary school teacher with a passion for all things vampire and paranormal, is about to be plunged into her secret fantasy and darkest nightmare.  Paralyzed from the waist down, she uses a wheelchair to aid in her mobility. Lost in the darkness of a defeatist attitude, Gwyn believes her limitations hold her back from enjoying a full life. One night as she is leaving work, she is accosted by a dark and mysterious stranger. This man is not what he seems and exudes an aura of danger and excitement, something which has been lacking in Gwyn's life. Intent on keeping her safe from harm, this stranger spirits her away (chair and all) and promises her Sanctuary.

Ciernan, a vampyre who loathes humans and their weaknesses is haunted by the grief of his past and bound to an accursed brother. Their fates are inexplicably woven together by the same tragedy. In rescuing Gwyn, he is forced to face his past and reevaluate his existence. This brings an old enemy to the surface. The vampyress who created him has been lurking in the shadows, waiting for someone to fall victim to his charms. Gwyn represents a chance for her the vampyress to exact her revenge on Ciernan and destroy all he holds dear. But both find an equal in Gwyn which they never anticipated. Ciernan must decide whether a human woman is worth the risk of his protection and love. Can Gwyn overcome her challenges and trust Ciernan enough to give herself over to him completely? Together, they must fight the dark forces which seek to tear them apart.

OR is this better?

Ciernan must decide whether a human woman is worth the risk of his protection. Can his frozen heart love again? Will Gwyn be able to overcome her challenges and trust Ciernan enough to give herself over to him completely?
